He graduated in Economics (“La Sapienza” University of Rome, Italy). He is a Chartered Accountant, Legal Auditor and a Consultant to the Civil and Criminal Court of Rome. He has been Board member of numerous companies and University lecturer on tax law and labor law.

He studied Biochemistry at the University of Tübingen (1981-1988). Doctoral Thesis at the Institute of Chemistry and Pharmacy of the University of Tübingen (1988-1991). Post doc at the University of Rome (1991-1993). He joins Merck Research Laboratories in 1993 where he was Project Director Oncology, Chair of Early Development Team and member of the Oncology Corporate Licensing Committee. He contributed to several preclinical projects in the areas of virology and oncology, the development of one launched oncology drug and clinical stage oncology projects. He is co-author of more than 90 publications in journals such as Nature Medicine, Nature Cell Biology and PNAS and co-inventor of 12 patents or patent applications.

She studied Biology at the University of Rome, “La Sapienza” (1978-1984) obtaining the degree of Dr. in Biological Sciences with an experimental thesis at the Institute of Cellular Biology, C.N.R., Rome (1981-1984). Postdoctoral period (1984-1986) in the Department of Virology at the Istituto Superiore di Sanita’, Rome. Postdoctoral Associate in the Laboratory of Molecular Biology at The Rockefeller University (HHMI), New York (1987-1990). Group leader (1990-2001) in the Biochemistry and Oncology Departments at Merck Research Laboratories, thereafter Project leader until 2009. Co-author of  more than 50 publications in journals such as Science, Nature, Nature Medicine, Nature Cell Biology and PNAS, and co-inventor of 6 patents or patent applications.

She obtained her degree in biology from the University of Rome “La Sapienza” and her PhD in Cell Biology from the University of Rome “Tor Vergata”, where her thesis was honoured with the “Calef Prize” in “Genetics of Cell Differentiation”. After a Post Doc in the laboratory of Prof. Riccardo Cortese at IRBM, she started her career as staff scientist of Merck Research Laboratories in virology, working on the Hepatitis C virus. Afterwards, she stepped into the oncology Department, to become Group Leader and Laboratory Head in Oncology. In Exiris she is part of the Management Team, contributing to the company strategic decisions. As Director she leads the Biology Labs coordinating the work of staff scientists, students and technicians and following all the different projects in the company pipeline.
